Waiting is hard. I hate surprises and want to know what’s coming next…Will my husband’s cancer come back? How long will I have him with me? What will I do if he dies prematurely? I want the answers now…but oftentimes life doesn’t work that way.
I was recently reminded that I’m not the only one who waits. Isaiah 30:18 tells us that God is a gentleman and waits for us to come to Him.
“So the Lord must wait for you to come to Him so He can show you His love and compassion. For the Lord is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for His help.” (Isaiah 30:18)
If you are like me, you may wonder, “Really, God? You are the sovereign king of the universe, far greater than any other. You can simply snap your fingers and make me come to You.”
But God is gentle and kind,. Unlike me, He waits patiently for His wayward children to turn to Him…even when we have hard hearts and want to do things our own way.
So because the Holy One is merciful and full of grace, like David, I will pursue Him with all my heart and proclaim,
“Because You are my helper, I sing for joy in the shadow of Your wings. I cling to You; Your strong right hand holds me securely.” (Psalm 63:7)
In this world of uncertainty, we have a sure and certain peace. He is the Great I Am…I AM enough for you.
